The treatment of this disease must be addressed early to prevent amblyopia, that after 6 years of age can be said to be irreversible. This will determine the likely Refraction errors (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism) and indicates that demand optical correction each eye, then move to reeducate the vision of the affected eye.

There are complications due to the misalignment of the two eyes, must be detected and treated properly, as fixing extrafoveolar and abnormal retinal correspondence, without which it is impossible to achieve this education. For this purpose we use essentially prisms and occlusion, which to have a permanent effect during wakefulness of the patient, has proven to be the most effective treatment.

In some cases, alignment is achieved in both eyes, but restitution is usually surgical. The surgery is to strengthen and / or extrinsic eye muscles weaken, requiring, according to the degree of deviation, operate one or both eyes.

It is important to note that is not always achieved the desired result with a single surgical procedure, and reoperation in these cases is frequent.
